A Drone, Anguish, and Small miracles
Have you ever notice when someone lose something - of value to them - it could be a cheap toy or anything, how you stay emotionally stable and maybe even aloof. But when YOU lose something, the great anguish and frustration and fear of not getting it back swirls around in your emotions.
Christmas 2018. My boys get a very over priced drone for Christmas, it is a combined present - as it is too expensive for just one child. We went to a football field - wanting to make sure that it won't get lost or driven off by the wind. While there - as unexperienced as we are - we try to fly it as high as possible to see - as every sane person will do- how high it can fly. BIG MISTAKE. It goes so high that it loses signal and the wind blows it over a residential area. For an hour we walk streets up and down with the vain hope that we will find it. But no such luck.
I get back home and look on Google maps, quickly do a count, about 200-300 houses in the search area. It could be anywhere on the roofs, in the trees, bushes. It is extremely light and the house owners will have no clue of the 'precious package' they might have in their possession.
The frustration ! I print and cut little strips of paper that says:
LOST CHRISTMAS GIFT, A DRONE, PLEASE CHECK YOUR ROOF AND BACK YARD,
I add my address and telephone number, I walk up and down streets stuffing it into people's post boxes. Praying God help us to find it ! After a while I get despondent, and think to myself that it is very unlikely that we'll find it since we are visiting a family and the next day we leave.
I think to myself - I should ask God if we will find it or not, if He says YES, I will keep on looking if He says NO I might as well stop looking. I start speaking in tongues and interpret my own tongues and what came out of my mouth was, >> we will find it, but not by looking for it and it will be at night !
I go back. Later that night someone knocks on our door saying there is a drone on their roof. They are OUT of our search area, the drone fell further away than I thought. But in the night - how, I did not now- they saw the lights flickering on their roof. They didn't know who it belongs to and started asking their neighbors, one of the neighbors got a piece of paper and the rest is history !
So here is the moral of the story:
1. God search for ( Jesus 's parables of the lost sheep, lost coins etc) people like we search for lost treasure ! We are focused on being fishers of things, He is focused on fishers or MEN.
2. Keep searching and seek feverishly. If God is in it, He will provide.
3. You can not do miraculous things without the giftings of the Holy Spirit !
