Hebrew Roots discussion

Hebrew Roots movement in the ‘Western Church’.

What does it mean to live in line with Hebrew roots?

What do they ‘do’ and ‘don’t do’ which is different.

There are different groups and different teachers’ people following in regards to this – different individual takes it to different levels.

Here are some of the things believers ‘do’:

1.       Follow the laws, customs, believes and practices commonly associated with Judaism.

2.       Using Yeshua instead of Jesus

3.       Yahweh, Jehovah, Yehovah etc. instead of ‘The Lord’

4.       Closely following the Jewish Feasts.

5.       Observing the Sabbath instead of Sunday

6.       Fulfilling mitzvoth –(‘commandments’ from the Torah and Talmud) like:

a.       Praying Rabbinic liturgy

b.      Put on kosher tefillin (strap around the arm or head with the Torah commands in them)

c.       Not touching money on a Sabbath

7.       Studying and talking Hebrew

8.       Wearing a tzizit

9.       Investigation your bloodlines to see if you have any Jewish blood.

10.   Eating mostly Jewish food.

11.   Women not praying without a head covering and men wearing beards

12.   Circumcising their children and/or doing adult circumcision.

13.   Do not celebrate Christmas or Easter as they are pagan.

14.   Wearing the Star of David instead of crosses and other jewelry and post mezuzahs on their doors.

Why does ‘western Christians’ leave their churches and start following the Hebrew roots movement?

1.       Disillusioned with modern day ‘Christianity’

2.       A means of separating oneself from secular society.

3.       Understanding the WORD (old and new testament) better with Hebrew exegesis

4.       Try to please God with good works?

Does it make me righteous before God?

1.       God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Cor 5:21.
